Description

I'm on a mission to muder my hand :iconimsotiredplz:

Name: Seton

Species: Sea Serpent

Age: Appears to be in his late 20s, actually pretty darn ancient.

Gender: Male

Size:
Human form - 7'3'' tall, 220 lbs
Creature form - 64'0'' long, 3250 lbs

Region: Zhovesund

Abilities:
- :bulletblue: Hydrokinesis - He is able to freely control and manipulate the element of water, bending it to his will. Capable of altering it's shape and state, he can use it both offensively and defensively - for example as a weapon or to create a giant cloud of steam.
- :bulletblue: Cryokinesis - Similiar to the previous ability, he is able to alter temperature to the point of freezing - his favourite being ice breath, especially effective in his creature form. As a human, he tends to use this skill to create a variety of weapons for himself, mainly those similiar to spears and harpoons - the fabled Crystal Palace was made in such a way.
- :bulletpurple: Bane - His body produces a deadly poison, it's effectiveness depending on the size of his current form - the smaller the body, the more fatal the toxin becomes. It's effects are instantaneous, the most obvious being paralysis which spreads across the body, leading the victim to suffocation. As a snake he tends to spit it out, unlike the bites his human form prefers - the acid additionaly burning and even melting the unlucky target. He usually leaves it as his last resort.
- :bulletyellow: Voltage - His main arsenal for hunting, right next to pure, brute force. His body produces an extensive amount of electricity, it's amounts depending on his size - contrary to the 'Bane' abillity. The bigger his body mass is, the more destructive the attack becomes - either paralyzing, or frying the victim on the spot. Sometimes can lead to discharges in weather - thunderstorms tend to characterize his bad mood.
- :bulletwhite: Resurgence - Seton is known for his high-speed regeneration, which capabilities are not fully known due to his rare sightings. The legends say that he is able to regrow a lost limb within moments, but we will never known how much truth is to that - or will we? His body remains scarless though, so perhaps it is worth looking into.

Accessory:
- A chain of rings and beads he keeps tied in his hair.
- A few earrings in his head fins.
- Long, light blue ribbon which keeps his hair together.

Personality: Seton is as much of a lone wolf as they get, living in the coldest and most desolate part of Throerskel Glaciers he was capable of finding. There he resides in his Crystal Palace, the snake's own creation - thanks to the superb reign he holds over water and ice. The land much too harsh for any sane soul to keep him company, he further expands his lonesome persona by having absolutely no servants - just him, himself and square miles of glaciers. The serpent does not complain, much satisfied with his current state - having lived that way for millenia, he is in no hurry to turn into a social butterfly - a feat quite impossible, considering the awkwardness and rustiness his company tends to bring. He flat out avoids any chance of socialization and thus is not one of the most reliable Overseers - he pokes his head out of the vast system of underground tunnels and caverns only once the news of trouble reach even the most recluse parts of Zhovesund. Once one manages to actually meet the fellow though, he appears as a quiet and well-mannered giant of a man, not talking unless spoken to and seemingly not carrying much for the source of conversation themselves. The often true sentiment reflects on his expresionless face - when actually won over though, he makes for a loyal friend - right to the point where one is the perfect size for a meal. He does not distinguish between a common critter and blessed folk as long as they fit requirements for a full stomach - thankfully, he does not hunt often, however the fact alone single-handedly eradicated any chance of visitors coming to his lonely palace (something he does not mind, truth to be told). Still, once he likes you, he will try to keep his urges at bay and try to entertain, in his little, incompetent ways. When baited or threatened his personality can drastically change, and his fits of anger lead nothing but destruction - for one's health, it is best to try to remain on his good side.

Weaknesses: Having basically cut himself off from the world brought him the blessed silence he seems to be fond of so - it also caused some unseen consequences, he has yet to notice. With no steady source of information to keep him updated, the serpent can be frustratingly naive - one would have to come up with a truly outlandish story for him not to believe it, a fact that once discovered, can be used extensively. As powerful as he is, Seton does not seem to have any major physical weaknesses - the most evident one being his need to recharge energy. His powers burn quite a number of calories, and thus he needs large amounts of food to keep them sated - still, it is quite a feat for him to burn out completely. While fast in water and on slick surfaces such as ice, he tends to slow down on rocky or forest-covered terrains.

Talents: A born warrior right to the core, Seton covers most of the requirements necessary to lead such a lifestyle - all except motivation, that's it. He is efficient at hand-to-hand combat, and his strength can be considered only as brutal - depending on the form he takes, of course. As a serpent he tends to constrict his victims and crush them to death - a sufficient power is required for such a feat. His human form requires no such amounts of energy, but it does not mean one should let their guard down - his lean build that he hides under the vast snow-white coat should not be underestimated and is still much above human standards. His strikes are fast and though he does not move much, he can lash out at very surprising speeds (much like cobras). Very nimble, easily slips out of unwanted grasp. Can breathe underwater, where he spends much of his time and is a capable swimmer, no matter which form he takes.

Background: Seton's history goes way back, right to the fabled conflict between Achlor'ynd and Set'eroth in which he was forced to partake, although on a much less important scale. He was nothing more than a simple, giant snake, his size impressive even then - his way of life did not change much overtime, as he led a calm, hermit lifestyle filled with the joys of silence and an ocassional meal to fill his stomach - much like now. Once the threat of evil arose though, and the conflict between the gods spread, forcing the creatures to choose sides as well, the days of his lonely peace went, never to return. He was recruited to fight, something he was surprisingly good at (as it would come out soon enough). The folk started calling him the 'Spirit of War', a title unnecessary and misunderstood in his humble opinion - yet it stuck, and it were his very accomplishments that brought him in front of the Achlor'ynd himself. His potential noticed, he was soon gifted with extraordinary powers and appointed the Overseer of Zhovesund, land of snow and ice fitting his recluse personality. Yet unlike his new collegues, he rarely socialized himself with the creatures he was supposed to protect - truth to be told, he rarely left the desolate palace he created as his residence. Not holding much interest in the others since the beginning of time, the war and sudden promotion did nothing to change his original views. He was as much of a danger to them as to any threat that dared to force itself on Zhovesund's borders, a fact he was very much aware of - thus he closed himself off, sighted only when an intervention was truly necessary and unavoidable. He became more of a legend than an actual being, some losing belief that he actually exists. In times past the folk used to organize raids in order to slay the giant serpent, though attempts were dropped as rarely whoever made it out alive - Seton still has a vast collection of weaporny and armor in his home, either left behind or unable to be digested by the snake. Even though he's an usually placid creature his portrayal bordered on evil, a fact which did not help his popular opinion. He made few friends over time, and although not an unpleasant man to be around, his tendency to treat guests as food was enough to put people off from trying to get to know him better. And so he made his home in the Throerskel Glaciers, the vast castle filled with his presence alone - it was suited to his needs, halls big enough for his creature form to comfortably coil and rest after a generous meal. He created a vast system of underground tunnels and caverns, big enough for him to slip through, which led to water amongst other thing - the great serpent more often than not could be found surveying the depths of Seirmothen Ocean. He continues this existence to this day, and as far as stories tell, it will not change anytime soon. :new:

Other:
- Approximately more than half of his life was spent sleeping - especially after a good hunt, the snake won't move for days.
- He is unable to change forms after swallowing a particularly big victim - thus he falls into a deep rest, coiled in one of the caverns or halls he had made for himself, the amount of time it takes depending on the size of the feast.
- His idea of hospitality is to have a bunch of furs laying around, in case of an unexpected visit - hopefully it will be enough to keep the unlucky soul from freezing their toes off.
- The low temperatures have absolutely no effect on the man, and he does not understand what the big deal is supposed to be.
- He has partial control over his body heat, but most of the time he is pleasantly cool to touch.
- The temperature tends to decrease rapidly as soon as his anger starts to boil.
- It is rumored that if he truly likes someone, he can give them rides on his head.
- Another legend surrounding the serpent are the supposed aphrodisiac qualities of his venom - the theory is yet to be tested, as noone lived to tell the tale.
- The fins can be folded or spread depending on his mood - they are quite an expressive way of telling what he is feeling, as this snake does not possess much expressions, no matter the form.
- He has a blue, forked tongue which is very sensitive to taste. He relies on his smell and sensory abillities much more than the power of sight.
- Tends to prolong the 's'. Sssuch a typical sssnake.
- He has a double set of eyelids, however it typically cannot be noticed until they show themselves in water.
- His scales work a bit like mirrors and the Northern Lights tend to reflect on his body, turning him him into a rainbow coloured light-show.
- He never really stopped growing and keeps shedding his skin - changes in length are minimal though as the process slowed down rapidly with age.
- Hoards all of the weird items he finds during his travels: seashells, rocks, minerals, weird clothes and devices, frozen plants, books and even a mamooth - he has quite the collection. :new:
- Took up carving in his spare time, bringing some activity into his boring lifestyle. As he digests his meals whole (thus no leftover bones), ice is usually the material of choice. His palace is made of all kinds of different architectural styles - if he sees something during his travels, the snake will most likely try to replicate it in his own home. :new:
- He hides his face under a furry hood when visiting the southern parts of his region and unless he decides to reveal his true origins, he usually gets mistaken for an abnormally tall foreigner with astonishingly blue eyes and a lisp. :new:
- When subjected to large amounts of heat for long periods of time (read: exotic weather) as he's not used to it he falls into a state similiar to narcolepsy, resulting in a disturbed sleeping pattern - he can literally fall asleep while walking. :new:
- Rarely ever blinks and sometimes entirely forgets to - it's a good way to tell what he's thinking, as he blinks when he's confused or surprised. That said, he can also sleep with his eyes open - effectively creeping out any onlooker. :new:
